jelly-fine-art-painter0devonA sense of place and atmosphere is a mainstay of Jelly’s work, which most recently stems from direct plein-air observation, interspersed with studio-based time. Jelly Fine Art has moved from surreal landscapes and architectural fragments, to embrace a fresh realism representing his surroundings in the South West of England. Conjuring an ‘impression’ with form and tone, these new works celebrate materials and medium with renewed energy, as well as evoking a setting’s individual atmosphere and spatial voice.

Further exploring the significance of voice and presence, Jelly has recently expanded his practice and exhibitions into portraiture, seeking new visions in the depiction of family, friends, and more formal subjects. View Jelly’s most recent work here.

Born in South Yorkshire, Jelly has lived and worked in South Devon since 1982. He has exhibited widely at home and abroad. A member of the original founding committee of the Southwest Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, he was elected Academician in 2000, has served as a trustee, and was elected Honorary Academician in 2011.
